TEPRI’s first on-the-ground resilience hub demonstration project brings together backup power, renewable energy, and Virtual Power Plant (VPP) technology to strengthen community resilience at two Foundation Communities properties in North Texas. Resilience hubs are trusted community spaces that improve residents’ quality of life year-round by providing programs, services, and opportunities for social connection. With the addition of solar and battery backup systems, these centers can now continue serving residents during power outages and extreme weather disruptions while also generating day-to-day electricity bill savings and potential grid service revenue through VPP participation. Developed in partnership with Foundation Communities and Holistic Utility Solutions, the project demonstrates how community-serving organizations can pair clean energy infrastructure with resilience planning to support residents before, during, and after disruptions.
